AT&T East Executive Joins DVS Board
Merrie Cavanaugh, vice president & general counsel of
AT&T East and AT&T Connecticut, has joined the
board of Domestic Violence Services of Greater New
Haven (DVS). “Merrie brings to the board,” said
Sandra Koorejian, DVS’s executive director, “a special
interest in children – and children are too often the
victims of physical and emotional abuse.”
Prior to assuming her AT&T position in December 2005 and moving to
Connecticut, Ms. Cavanaugh was vice president and general counsel for
Southwestern Bell Company’s data and Internet subsidiaries in San Antonio,
Texas, and held other positions with SBC’s Legal Department, beginning with
SBC in 1990.
Before attending law school, Ms. Cavanaugh was a Child Protective Services
Investigator for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Child
advocacy triggered her desire to attend law school, and as a lawyer, she was a
volunteer for Child Advocates of San Antonio.
A native of Texas, Ms. Cavanaugh holds an undergraduate degree from Texas
A&M University and a J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law. She lives
in Guilford with her husband and two children.
